Kenichi Matsuyama was born on March 5, 1985, from Aomori Prefecture. His debut was triggered by winning the Grand Prix of Horipro Men’s Audition “New Style Audition”. After working as a model, he became an actor. He was first seen by Haruki Kadokawa and was selected for “Otokotachi Yamato” (2005). He got his big break with the role of “L” in “DEATH NOTE”, in which he beautifully dressed as a popular character. He plays a 180 degree different character, and is often called the No. 1 young actor. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, he is also known as a “chameleon actor” because his appearance and acting style change with each production. In April 2011, he married actress Koyuki.
