If you want to read my review of Desert of Namibia, read this post. In ナミビアの砂漠, Kana Miyama lives without great aspirations for the future, but is very well treated by her boyfriend. Even so, she falls in love and leaves everything behind.
Kana Miyama (Yuumi Kawai) was the daughter of Chinese parents with Japanese grandparents and lived with Honda (Kanichiro Sato), who took very good care of her
“Going well. I love her.”
She had an ex-marital relationship with Hayashi (Daichi Kaneko) who, at first, had accepted her schedule limitations.
“I wish you would leave him. Right now”
Kana and Hayashi were very involved. To the point where he agreed to get a tattoo of the sketch she created and she got a nose piercing he chose.

Honda had no idea that he was being cheated on. So, during a work trip, he went with his boss to Kyabakura and, when he returned, he couldn’t bear the remorse.
“I’m truly sorry. I was forced to go, but I couldn’t get a hard-on.”
But Kana didn’t care. She was about to abandon him and accept the offer to live with Hayashi.
“I think we can raise each other up”
Hayashi and Kana moved in together and during the process, she found an ultrasound but didn’t say anything.
With the house already in order, Kana agreed to go to a family meeting and, there, she became intrigued by the pregnancy of Hayashi’s cousin.
“How many months along are you?
In everyday life, she wasn’t treated nearly as well by Hayashi as she was by Honda. Soon, disagreements began.
“You’re hopeless. Just stop.”
The fight was horrible, it caused a very serious accident and when she regained her motor skills, she met her ex-boyfriend who she had abandoned.
Desert of Namibia review: right of blood

The script didn’t make it clear whether Kana was born in Japan, only that she was the daughter of Chinese parents and Japanese grandparents.
In Japan, citizenship isn’t guaranteed even if you are born there. At least one of your parents has to be a Japanese citizen.
In addition, they practically don’t allow dual citizenship and society itself doesn’t see such people as Japanese.
Why you should watch Desert of Namibia

I won’t leave Desert of Namibia ending or a download link here, but this Japanese movie has two of my favorite actresses, Yuumi Kawai and Erika Karata.
And I love the way Japanese cinema tells its stories and how, in one way or another, it reminds me of what’s really important in life.
