The Cinderella Addiction

If you want to read my The Cinderella Addiction reviews, read this post. In 哀愁しんでれら, Fukuura Koharu is a City Hall employee. On one very unlucky day, she loses everything she held dear. But, she meets a real prince charming. As in a perfect fairy tale, he proposes to her and the two move in together with his daughter. However, what happens after that is more like a macabre fairy tale.

Fukuura Koharu (Tao Tsuchiya) works at the Child Counseling Center. She is neither happy nor unhappy. But, in the span of 24 hours, her life crumbled before her eyes. With the aggravating factor that, with the trauma of being abandoned by her mother, when she was 10 years old, Koharu assumed the role of mother to her sister, father and grandfather.

“I don’t want to be that kind of mother.”

Izumisawa Daigo (Kei Tanaka) is a doctor and owns his own hospital. He lost his wife in a traffic accident and since then, he has dedicated himself to the hospital and taking care of his 8-year-old daughter, named Hikari. One day, he got too drunk and thanks to Koharu, he wasn’t killed by a train.

“I’m still alive now thanks to koharu-san.”

Koharu handles children very well because she had to raise her own sister from a very young age. Daigo is impressed by the chemistry between Koharu and Hikari as soon as they meet. This intimacy between the two greatly facilitates the relationship between the couple. But, some mysteries begin to emerge. Including about Hikari’s late mother, Mayuka-san.

Reviewing The Cinderella Addiction: summary

Fukuura Koharu (Tao Tsuchiya) and Izumisawa Daigo (Kei Tanaka) getting married in The Cinderella Addiction.

Dai-chan helped where he could and with all his influence and knowledge, he managed to get Koharu’s father a job, a better hospital to admit her grandfather and help her younger sister study for the entrance exam.

“I just did what I could.”

Naturally, all this interaction between Dai-chan and the members of the Fukuura family facilitates the approval of the marriage by Koharu’s relatives and little Hikari. Dai-chan and Koharu feel that it will be okay if they get married.

“From now on, whatever your dream is, I will make it come true for you.”

Up until that point, everything had been a bed of roses. Cinderella’s story unfolding in real life and Koharu accepted, from the bottom of her heart, the task of being Hikari’s mother and a good housewife.

“I’ll make Dai-chan and Hikari happy.”

It stands to reason that by becoming so heavily involved with Dai-chan and Hikari, Koharu was taking a huge risk. Koharu barely knew them and many things from Dai-chan’s past and secrets were not told.

“You are not afraid? You don’t even know him well.”

The tragic part of this fairy tale begins when Koharu discovered secrets from Dai-chan that made her very uncomfortable and, all of a sudden, Hikari became very needy. She starts to create a lot of intrigue. Between parents, with classmates, and between parents and teachers. She is a great manipulator and no one seems to notice because she uses her position as a child masterfully.

Reviewing The Cinderella Addiction: behavioral degeneration or pure evil

Hundreds of children killed by Fukuura Koharu (Tao Tsuchiya) and Izumisawa Daigo (Kei Tanaka) in The Cinderella Addiction.

I have not described The Cinderella Addiction full story to avoid spoilers. But, apparently, in newly married families, children from the previous relationship can suffer from behavioral degeneration. Symptoms such as rebellion and neediness are quite regular. In my view, this adds up to the ability that children have to manipulate their parents to get what they want.

Due to the fact that Hikari is motherless, Daigo is completely forgiving of her behavior and encourages Koharu to be as well. In any situation, this is very dangerous. I don’t think Hikari suffered a behavioral degeneration, because her father had married another woman. She is, in fact, evil and that evil began to manifest itself in her pre-adolescence.

Hikari took her ability to manipulate people and her evilness to the extreme. She committed several heinous crimes and led Daigo and Koharu to do the same, for a supposed protection of her daughter and maintenance of the family’s well-being. Gradually, a good person like Koharu becomes corrupted and develops a behavioral disorder.

Why you should watch The Cinderella Addiction

Fukuura Koharu (Tao Tsuchiya) and Izumisawa Daigo (Kei Tanaka) painted in a family painting in The Cinderella Addiction.

I won’t leave The Cinderella Addictio ending explained or a download link here but, naturally, if you are married to someone who has children from a previous relationship and is having difficulty dealing with the child, an extreme case like the one portrayed in this Japanese movie can make you aware that it is necessary to establish limits between the desire to be accepted by the child and be manipulated by the child.

Another thing we need to be aware of is that the world is full of bad people and this cruelty doesn’t come out of nowhere, during adult life. The signs begin to appear very early on and gain perversity level as the years go by. It’s not out of nowhere that a person who grew up with you appears in the news
