If you want to read my review of Stole identity, read this post. In スマホを落としただけなのに, Tomita Makoto lost his phone in a taxi. His girlfriend, Inaba Asami, offered to pick up the device where was left by the person who found it. Meanwhile, a cracker, a malicious hacker, invaded the device to steal data and started stalking the couple. In addition, several serial murders are discovered by the police and the victims have the same physical characteristics as Inaba Asami.
Tomita Makoto (Kei Tanaka) is a employee of an electronics company and plans to propose to his girlfriend. Rushed to a business meeting and nervous about the propose he plans to make, he ends up forgetting his phone in the taxi.
“I’m looking forward to our date tonight.”
Inaba Asami (Keiko Kitagawa) also works in an office, loves privacy and doesn’t post much on social media. She offers to pick up Tomita-kun’s lost phone in a cafe at Yokohama (横浜市).
“I have a social network. But I hardly look.”
When she goes to get the phone, she doesn’t realize she’s being watched and through the ransomware installed on Tomita-kun’s smartphone, the serial killer infects the phones of several people, including hers. Using the data, the stalker discovers the past, the secrets and begins to sow chaos in the personal and financial lives of the people around the couple.
Stolen Identity: japanese movie review

Asami and Tomita have a great relationship, they like each other a lot and she wants to accept his marriage proposal. But, because of an old secret, she doesn’t want to introduce him to her family. This leaves Tomita-kun with a lot of doubts and very uncomfortable.
“You are evasive about your adolescence.”
A few days after recovering the phone, several unauthorized purchases were made using Tomita-kun’s credit card. But, until that moment he hadn’t realized that it could have something to do with the strange functioning that the device was presenting.
“By any chance, were you robbed?”
At that moment, the serial killer had already managed to hack Asami’s and Tomita-kun’s co-workers’ phone. With that, he creates several fake accounts and begins to torment Asami, posing as other men.
“A man keeps bothering me on Socialbook.”
To destabilize the couple’s relationship, the cracker starts sending old photos of Tomita-kun with other women that, out of context, implied that he had a lover.
“What is it? You owe me an explanation.”
The serial killer follows everything closely. After digging into Asami’s past, he creates situations where Tomita-kun also thinks that she might have a relationship with another man. Also, he discovers the secret she was trying to hide from her boyfriend.
“Well, what about you? What is it?
At that point, chaos had already been established in their lives and in the lives of those close to them. Therefore, Asami had the idea of looking for a technical assistant, Yoshiharu Urano (Ryo Narita), to check the telephone sets.
“It’s ransomware. It locks your smartphone and demands a ransom.”
What they hadn’t realized until now is that they were being watched closely and the serial killer had a fixation on women who looked like Asami. Especially, long black hair.
Reviewing Stolen Identity: serial murders

The police found 5 bodies buried in the forest. All were female bodies, with the same physical characteristics, in their 30s and killed in the same way, stabbed in the abdomen. In addition to this pattern, the killer also shaved off part of their long, black hair.
All women were buried naked and without personal belongings. The serial killer invaded their phone and made the victims’ acquaintances believe that they had changed their lives and residence.
The mystery begins to be elucidated because one of the rookie police officers was an IT programmer, in the previous profession, and he manages to understand the pattern of the murderer’s operation.
Why you should watch Stolen Identity

I won’t leave Stolen Identity ending explained or a download link here, but I believe that, like me, many of you are intrigued by the theme: psychopaths who become serial killers. No matter how many stories I already know, the patterns are always quite peculiar.
Furthermore, Stolen Identity is a japanese movie that serves to make people aware of the dangers of the internet. Losing the cell phone was just an accident. But clicking on received links, even if they seem to have been sent by acquaintances, is always a dangerous attitude.
