While attending Keio University, he was a member of the theater group “Souzo Kobo in Front of”. In 2006, he formed the theater group “Gozigen”, which he made independent in 2008. He writes and directs all of the performances, and also performs in them himself. He has been releasing independent films since 2007, and his film “Just the Right Kind of Shiawase” (2010) won the Grand Prix at the Okinawa International Film Festival in 2010. In 2012, he made his commercial film directorial debut with “Afro Tanaka”, a film adaptation of Noritake Masaharu’s popular manga (serialized in Big Comic Spirits) starring Matsuda Shota. He also works as a screenwriter, working on TV dramas such as “Two Spicas” (2009) and “Space Dog Operation” (2010).
