He joined Bungakuza and made his first movie appearance in Nigorie (53), in which all members of the troupe appeared. After that, he acted mainly on the stage, and appeared in movies such as “Mechanic of revenge should die beast” (74), “Woman of Marsa” (87), “Tsuribaka Nisshi Eleven” (00). Other works include the TV drama “Let’s go to the hot springs” (99), “Kunimitsu no Masa”, “Beauty or the Beast” (both 03), and the V-cinema “Jingi” series (02-06). In 2012, he played an old gentleman, a former university professor, in “Like Someone in Love,” directed by Iranian master Abbas Kiarostami, set in Japan. The film was submitted to the competition section of the Cannes Film Festival, and at the age of 84, he stood on the world’s big stage.
