City Hunter

If you want to read my review of City Hunter, read this post. In シティーハンター, Ryo Saeba is a sweeper, a person hired to do all kinds of work, such as investigations, bodyguards and murders.

Ryo Saeba (Ryohei Suziki) is an Ace in almost everything he does. Shooting, fighting, driving, etc. His weakness is hormones. He’s a pervert around women.

“Sexy girls are mokkori. Big breasts are mokkori.”

Hideyuki Makimura (Masanobu Ando) is Ryo’s partner, a former police officer who does what he can to keep Ryo focused and the two work together to sweep Tokyo of crime.

“You should be working for the client.”

On the night Hideyuka intended to tell his half-sister, Kaori Makimura (Misato Morita) the truth about her, he was murdered by the Union Teope cartel and the executioner appeared to be capable of unimaginable feats.

City Hunter: Sweeper Ryo Saeba Review

Ryo Saeba was known as City Hunter who, with the help of Hideyuki and, later, Kaori, worked accepting any type of service. Mainly in Shinjuku.

In Shinjuku there is the largest and most dangerous red light district in Japan, Kabukicho. Controlled by the various phalanxes of the Yakuza, the Japanese mafia.

Kaori wanted to solve her brother’s murder. However, she didn’t know that she would have to be willing to enter this world.

“I want to know who killed my brother and why.”

Ryo would never let Kaori do that with consent. Especially because the last request of his late ex-partner, Hideyuki, was the opposite.

“Ryo, please take care of Kaori.”

Therefore, he pretended not to be interested in unraveling the case and did what he could to keep her away.

“Don’t you ever give up?”

Eventually, to protect her, it was better to accept Kaori as a partner and the two discovered that they were in the middle of something much bigger.

A central american cartel, Union Teope, kidnapped people, including the Toyoko Kids, to test a new drug capable of increasing people’s violence and athletic ability.

Reviewing City Hunter: XYZ, mokkori and Toyoko Kids

XYZ, left on the notice board at Shinjuku Station, means the end of the line. A signal used when needing help from the City Hunter

Mokkori is an onomatopoeia for the sound of something growing very fast. In the manga, this is when Ryo Saeba gets an erection.

The Toyoko Kids are young people who decided to leave home and live on the streets of Shinjuku. They are often co-opted by the mafia.

Why you should watch City Hunter

I won’t leave City Hunter ending explained or a download link here, but If you’re a fan of manga adaptations, this Japanese movie is an excellent choice.

Also, despite being a big fan of Jackie Chan, who also did a live action version of the City Hunter manga, I think this version is more faithful to the anime.

I really feel that you will like this one. So I decided to do this Shitī Hantā review. Go ahead, immerse yourself in the story, the environment and the soundtrack.

And come back later to tell me what you think in the comments. This Japanese movie is a live action of the manga written and illustrated by Tsukasa Hojo, which sold more than 50 million copies.
