If you want to read my review of Night Flower, read this post. In ナイトフラワー, Driven by financial hardship, Natsuki, a single mother of two and Tamae, a promising MMA fighter, begins trafficking drugs on the streets of Tokyo to make a living.
Natsuki Nagashima (Keiko Kitagawa) is a single mother of two, works at a kyabakura, cleaning and in other jobs, struggling to pay the bills and facing food insecurity.
“You still have a large sum of money left to process.”
Tamae Yoshii (Misato Morita) works as a prostitute to make a living and, at one of the hotels, she sees Natsuki cleaning. She’s also an up-and-coming MMA fighter.
“She’s capable and wants to venture out into the world.”
Natsuki watches an MDMA dealer close a deal for 50,000, only to see him get robbed and knocked unconscious immediately afterward. She grabs the remaining drugs and runs off.
Night Flower: japanese movie

Things got worse when she lost one of her jobs and Natsuki had no idea she could get beaten up for selling drugs on the streets of Tokyo.
“Transactions can’t be conducted privately in that area.”
Natsuki never wanted to have to do this. She knew ecstasy could kill someone and that selling it put her own life at risk. But at least she found Tamae to defend her from then on.
“I’ll protect you and I’ll take half the profits.”
Tamae worked at the brothel with a schoolmate, Kai Ikeda (Daisuke Sakuma), and he had a senior, a drug dealer, who could supply them.
“Getting involved with those guys will get you into trouble.”
Natsuki had been abandoned by her husband, who left behind debts, and couldn’t pay the rent, bills, or insurance and Tamae no longer wanted to sell her body.
“So you want me to keep working in a shithole place like that?”
Natsuki and Tamae are introduced to Sato (Ryuta Shibuya), the owner of the territory and responsible for the manufacture and resale of drugs in the region where they were to operate.
Naturally, trafficking a poison that destroys people’s lives would put their own lives at risk, but greed often wins out.
Reviewing Night Flower: drug prices in Japan

The only 3 countries that produce cocaine are Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia, with Brazil serving as its largest distribution hub, all on the other side of the world.
So, leaving the producer, 1 kg with over 95% purity, which costs $5,000, arrives in Brazil for $15,000. In Europe, near the Iberian Peninsula, it costs $60,000.
In islands with strict customs controls, such as England, Australia, and Japan, the price of the same kg of the drug ranges from $150,000 to $200,000.
Why you should Watch Night Flower

I won’t leave Night Flower ending explained or a download link here, but this Japanese film earned Misato Morita the Newcomer of the Year award at the 2026 Japan Academy Film Prize.
If you admire her and would like to see her in a lighter role, I recommend the live-action version of City Hunter, where she also co-stars.
