Samurai X – The Legend Ends

If you want to read my review Samurai X – The Legend Ends, read this post. In るろうに剣心 伝説の最期編, Kenshin was rescued by his sensei, Hiko Seijuro, 13th successor of the Hiten Mitsurugi style, and with him, Kenshin will train intensely to defeat Shishio.

Makoto Shishio (Tatsuya Fujiwara) deceived everyone and didn’t set fire to Kyoto, he headed to Tokyo to destroy the new imperial court of the Meiji era.

“I live to restore a world of savagery and bloodshed.”

Kenshin Himura (Takeru Satoh) was found unconscious on the beach after jumping into the ocean to save Kaoru Kamiya (Emi Takei).

“Master, I have a request. Teach me the supreme technique of our style.”

Hiko Seijuro baptized Shinta as Kenshin and taught him almost everything except the supreme technique of the Hiten Mitsurugi style. They had spent 15 years apart.

At the same time, Shishio arrived in Tokyo and forced the new government’s Minister to turn against Kenshin.

“You’ll find him and execute him in public.”

Even though they fought on opposite sides in the Bakumatsu, Hajime Saitou (Yosuke Eguchi) didn’t believe that the government would use Kenshin.

“Have the new government officials forgotten their samurai pride?”

While Kaoru was in critical condition after being found by a fishing boat, Kenshin was trying to prove himself worthy.

“For supreme technique, you’ll need to fight better than that.”

As it was now, Kenshin wasn’t even capable of defeating Seta Soujirou (Ryūnosuke Kamiki) and he didn’t know what was missing within himself.

“If you can’t figure it out, you’ll lose your life right here.”

When the training was over, Kenshin returned. But he would have to survive Shinomori Aoshi (Yûsuke Iseya) and the trial to get to Shishio.

Emi Takei as Kaoru Kamiya and Takeru Satoh as Kenshin Himura in Samurai X - The Legend Ends

Kawakami Gensai (1834 – 1871), one of the prominent royalist hitokiris, was probably the inspiration for the creation of Kenshin Himura’s story.

A samurai with long hair and delicate features that hid an assassin capable of maintaining coolness and control in the most dangerous situations.

From Kawakami Gensai’s physical and behavioral characteristics and the historical context of Japan, Kenshin’s story was constructed.
