If you want to read my review of Samurai X – Kyoto Inferno, read this post. In 京都大火編, Kenshin lived peacefully in the Meiji Era, but with the threat of Shishio setting everything on fire, Battousai found himself once again driven to kill.
Makoto Shishio (Tatsuya Fujiwara) was also an imperialist hitokiri, as skilled as Kenshin. But when the Bakumatsu ended, the new government tried to kill him.
“A desire to rule that will make him run over anyone. That’s Shishio”
Kenshin Himura (Takeru Satoh) was no longer a wanderer, in the 11th year of the Meiji Era, he lived with Kaoru Kamiya (Emi Takei) in Asakusa, Tokyo.
“These peaceful days don’t need my Hiten Mitsurugi style.”
Obviously, he was wrong. In Kyoto, Shishio begins to put into practice his plan to overthrow the government and only Kenshin can stop him.

Kaoru had vehemently opposed the Home Minister’s request for help. Now, Battousai the Slasher was a legend of the past.
“I won’t let you go to Kyoto under any circumstances.”
Shishio was an ambitious sadist, and after the war was won, the government stabbed him and set him on fire.
“He would have died, but it snowed.”
Kenshin didn’t want to cut anyone else and didn’t care about rewards, but the minister threatened to arrest Megumi Takani (Yū Aoi).
“For example, the acquittal of Megumi Takani for opium production.”
While Kenshin was thinking, Shishio ordered his right-hand man, Seta Soujirou (Ryūnosuke Kamiki), to kill the Minister and he himself killed dozens of officers.
“You are our only hope.”
Before facing Shishio, Kenshin would have to get past Seta. But with his skills a little rusty and refusing to kill, everything was uncertain.
Samurai X – Kyoto Inferno: Shinsengumi

Beyond Shishio, Kenshin’s most notorious rival was Hajime Saitou (Yosuke Eguchi), captain of the 3rd division of the Shinsengumi, also known as The Wolves of Mibu.
Commanded by the shogun whose main goal was to protect Kyoto and, with the end of the Bakumatsu, Hajime fought the same enemies as Kenshin.
The Shinsengumi played the role of police. The largest group of swordsmen in Japan’s history. Its existence lasted until the arrival of modern firearms.
Why you should watch Samurai X – Kyoto Inferno

The arc that tells the story of this conflict was the most popular in my childhood. Shishio was Kenshin’s greatest villain.
