P and JK

If you want to read my review of Policeman and Me, read this post. In P to JK, Kako Motoya is a 16-year-old high school student and Kota Sagano is a 26-year-old police officer. Unaware of this, they fall in love. He knows the only right way to keep her is with her parents’ blessing for their marriage.

Kako Motoya (Tao Tsuchiya) and Mikado Yaguchi (Tina Tamashiro) are students and have been invited by a friend (Maryjun Takahashi) to a group blind date, so she can have help fitting in.

“What the hell is it about that we’re 22-year-old college students? We’re still 16 years old.”

Kota Sagano (Kazuya Kamenashi) is a police officer and saw them being pressured by two men to drink at the event. He took the shots and drank to quell the teasing mood.

“Kota-kun, please, accept this. Actually, we can’t drink. You were really a big help. Thank you.”

Kota and Kako realize that they would need to take the same train to leave. But, it was the last train of the night. So they needed to hurry and it was in this ordinary condition that an affective bond between the two began to form.

After missing the last train, Kako-chan and Kota-kun decide to walk a bit and ask for a taxi after catching their breath.

“Once I catch my breath, I’ll take you back in a cab.”

During the walk, they get along super well and are already starting to make plans for a second date alone. Until, in the middle of the chat, Kota-kun discovers that Kako-chan is too young.

“What? 16 years? Aren’t you 22 years old?”

Kota-kun gets very angry, to the point of treating her rudely. Immersed in so much shame, Kako-chan apologizes, turns her back and runs aimlessly.

Kako-chan ends up getting into trouble after being attacked by Heisuke Okami’s gang (Mahiro Takasugi) and Kota-kun, being a man of the law, did what he could to save her life and arrest the criminals.

“There are suspects deliberately damaging property and committing crime. I request for dispatch of police car.”

Kako-chan was unconscious after being hit. So Kota-kun took her to the hospital, apologized to her parents, Yoko Motoya (Rie Tomosaka) and Seiichi Motoya (Jun Murakami), and stayed by her bedside until she woke up the next morning.

“You’re a school girl and I’m a police officer.”

Kota-kun tried. But he was already too emotionally involved with Kako-chan and there was only one thing he could do to handle the situation properly.

“Kako-chan, let’s get married.”

Kako-chan was terrified. But, she was very excited and accepted. From that moment, the two will have to learn to deal with all the social dynamics to stay properly together.

P and JK review: the age of emancipation

Without a doubt, the most controversial part of this Japanese film is the age difference between the two protagonists, Kako and Kota. Especially since Kako is under 18 years old. The minimum age for a person to be legally responsible for their actions in various countries around the world.

I’m not qualified enough to say what should or shouldn’t be allowed when a person is 16 years old. In the United States, for example, you can already drive and a car used irresponsibly becomes a lethal weapon.

In Brazil, you can already vote and decide the political and social destiny of a country with hundreds of millions of inhabitants. So I think some of you will feel a little uncomfortable with the fact that Kako is 16 and some aren’t.

Why you should watch Policeman and Me

I won’t leave Policeman and Me ending explained or a download link here but, the earliest work I know starring Tao Tsuchiya was MARE, a series where she played Kento Yamazaki’s girlfriend. So, PとJK was one of the first films of hers that I watched, and I’ve been a fan ever since.

She has enormous artistic versatility with diverse athletic skills. I’m sure Tao Tsuchiya will be present in several highly successful films and series throughout her career, showing all her acting ability.

Police and Jyoshi Kousei trailer

I really feel that you will like this one. So I decided to do this Police & Jôshi Kousei review. Go ahead, immerse yourself in the story, the environment and the soundtrack.

And come back later to tell me what you think in the comments. If you were already curious about the title of this Japanese movie, know that “P” stands for Police and JK stands for Jyoshi Kousei (女子高生), which means female high school student.
