If you want to read my review of Suzume No Tojimari, read this post. In すずめの戸締まり, Suzume Iwato and Souta Munakata attempt to find and close the “Doors of Disaster” to prevent a series of catastrophes from occurring across Japan.
Souta Munakata (Hokuto Matsumura) is a mysterious and very handsome traveller. He was walking alone on the road, when he passed Suzume, who was on her bicycle on her way to school.
“Do you know of any ruins in this area? I’m looking for a door.”
Suzume Iwato (Nanoka Hara) is a 17-year-old student who was enchanted by the boy’s beauty and pointed him to Kaminoura ruins near the mountain. She tried to make her way to school. But, she couldn’t help herself with curiosity and followed him.
“I feel like we’ve met somewhere before.”
In the ruins, Suzume found an upright doorway, in the middle of a flooded hall. When she opened the door, an unknown field appeared on the other side and when trying to make the passage to this “other dimension”, she was simply sent to the other side of the door. To complete the astonishment, a kind of relic came to life and ran out of the hall.
Suzume: japanese movie review

Already at school, Suzume saw a fire on the mountain and at the same time an earthquake occurred in the region. Colleagues felt the earthquake. But, they were unable to see the smoke.
“They can’t see it.”
The red smoke, tornado shaped and with tentacles was a worm that was coming out of the “Door of Disaster”.
“There’s no way. It’s that door! It’s him!”
Souta was trying to close the door by himself, reciting verses and with a magic key, while the worm slipped through the cracks.
“What are you doing? Get your of here!”
Suzume sees no alternative but to help him, even without knowing what’s going on.
“You need to close this, right?”
The relic that turned into a cat was a keystone, which kept the door of disaster sealed. Because of Suzume, the seal had been broken.
“Thank you for helping me. Now, forget everything you saw here and go home.”
Suzume wouldn’t leave without an explanation and Souta gave it to her. Without the keystone, the place became a portal and the worm wanted to escape through it.
The relic that turned into a cat reappeared at Suzume’s house and cursed Souta, turning him into a child’s chair. Now, she must help him remove the curse and close the other doors to disaster.
Suzume no Tojimari review: the closer’s job

The worm is a gigantic force that lived beneath the islands of Japan and the relics seal the doors so the monster can’t escape to the surface.
Souta was a closer. He travels across Japan to close the doors so that disaster doesn’t strike the region.
After escaping through the door of disaster and ascending to the sky, the giant worm falls and the collision with the ground creates an earthquake generating all kinds of calamities in the region.
Why you should watch Suzume movie

I won’t leave Suzume ending explained or a download link here, but Suzume is a Japanese movie with the typical characteristics of Makoto Shinkai films. The images are beautiful and so are the soundtracks produced by the band RADWIMPS.
In addition, during the trips closing the portals of disaster, you will see Suzume’s maturity, in relation to missing her mother, living with her aunt and the traumas of the past.
